Direct Support Professional

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides essential support and care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them lead fulfilling and independent lives. This role involves assisting clients with daily living activities, promoting social inclusion, and ensuring their health, safety, and overall well-being.

Qualifications/Education

• High School Diploma or GED required
• CPR and First Aid Certification
• Trained and certified in a nationally recognized and DMH-approved technique for managing aggressive or risk-to-self behaviors to include verbal and physical de-escalation. (i.e., MANDT© or CPI) 
• Previous experience in human services or direct care preferred
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (if transportation is required)
• Ability to pass background checks
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Compassionate, patient, and dependable
• Able to lift 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed
